Welcome to Your New Window Film Experience
Your Journey Towards Cooler and Protected Spaces Begins Here
At LR Window Films, we value transparency and quality of service. We’ve put together this comprehensive welcome pack for our new customers to guide you through the process and answer your most common questions about window film installation.
How long does the window film last?
Window film is made to last for several years. The interior film is warranted for bubbling, peeling, and cracking for the lifetime of the window and film. It is also warranted for thermal shock for 5 years. It is warranted for 3 years as long as the window manufacturer still covers the same period. 3M window films often last much longer than the warranty period.
How long does it take for the window film to cure?
Manufacturers commonly ask for 30 days minimum for the film to dry out and cure completely. Depending on conditions, film can cure in as little as a few days or a couple of months. While curing, window film may have a hazy look or develop water bubbles, This is a normal part of the process and will disappear once the film dries.
How long does it take to install?
Most of our installations take less than a day. We will try to add technicians for larger jobs so we can complete the project in a day. In the cases where a job is larger, we will still provide an estimate of the duration based on previous experience.
What time will you start?
We start at a mutually agreed date and time. We only ask for a 30-minute window often due to traffic.
Do I need to clean my windows?
We do a specific, thorough cleaning tailored to window film installation. It is included at no additional cost. Exceptionally, we charge for removing old window film when it is present.
Is there anything else I need to do to prepare for your arrival?
Exterior film installations require dry or mostly dry weather. Rainwater can get inside the film before it dries enough to stop the on-take of water. Beyond that, we need 3 feet of space near the windows where possible. We are happy to move some items. Large or heavy items should be moved prior to our arrival. Keep in mind liability insurance does not cover these items.
What happens on the day of the installation?
Our certified technicians are as friendly as they are skilled, so you are in great hands. They will arrive at the appointed time. Often they will review the windows requiring film and quickly establish a roadmap for the day.
Window film requires soapy water for installation, so you can be sure that our technicians take the time to put down towels so neatly that there is no water damage. Once installed, we clean up any debris and leave your place in great shape. We encourage you to review the windows. Feel free to ask questions as you see fit. We’re happy to answer them!
How do I pay?
Once completed, we will send an invoice. We accept cash, cheques, major credit cards, and e-transfers.
How do I maintain or clean the windows after the installation?
We kindly ask that you don’t clean the film for the first 30 days, The film needs time to cure untouched. After 30 days, we recommend cleaning with dish soap, a microfiber cloth, and a squeegee. Dawn and Palmolive Original are great choices. Soft brushes may be used as well.
We strongly discourage using cleaners with ammonia, such as Windex. These are less effective at cleaning windows. Professional window cleaners use dish soap and water for superior results, so we recommend the same.
